About
MSVU (the Mount) is all about challenging the status quo and making a positive difference, both locally and around the world. This perspective is the foundation of all their programs—and that means students are not just earning a degree, they're earning a degree with a difference. While some universities might stick students in a class with hundreds of other students, at MSVU there are fewer than 24 students in most courses throughout one's degree. Guess that’s why Maclean’s magazine recognizes MSVU’s class sizes as among the smallest in Canada. Those small classes have another bonus: professors will know a student by name, not by number. And they care about student's academic and personal success. Students will take part in group discussions and small team projects that enhance their experience. And it’ll all happen while exploring new ideas and the latest discoveries, thanks to the Mount's professors’ cutting-edge research. So whether coming to university for the first time, transferring from another university or community college, going back to school, or moving to Nova Scotia from another part of the world, the Mount has the (small) size to offer students an experience like no other.
The Mount is located just minutes from downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia and is recognized for its small class sizes and personalized approach to learning. A diverse mix of 4,000 women and men from across Canada and more than 70 countries take advantage of the Mount’s programs and unique sense of community through on-campus classes and distance learning opportunities.
Why Mount Saint Vincent University
- Halifax: Just a few minutes from campus is downtown Halifax. Never been to Halifax before, students are in for a treat. One minute, one could be trying on a killer outfit at some fashion-forward boutique. The next minute? Maybe it's kicking back at a waterfront café and watching the ships sail by, or seeing the next big indie rock band at a local venue. With vibrant theatre, music, and arts communities, Halifax is pulsing with life!
- Campus Life: With lots of student clubs and societies spanning just about every topic one could imagine and strong connections to the community there is something for everyone. All this happens on more than 40 acres of greens pace where there is always room to relax and take a break from the hustle and bustle, and study of course.
- Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: If there’s one thing to know about MSVU, it’s that MSVU was built upon a foundation of equity and inclusion. That’s why those principles remain at the core of everything they do today. They embrace what makes each and every student unique, including ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, mental and physical ability, socio-economic status, age, religion, and political affiliation. All this is backed up with support and services for students?
